OVERVIEW
Working from home has become a normal part of working life for millions of people. Some employees now work from home full time; many more do so for part of the week as part of a hybrid arrangement, splitting their time between home and a workplace. Working from home brings real benefits — less commuting, more flexibility and, for many people, better focus — but it does not switch off the rules that keep people safe and well at work. The duties that protect employees in an office or other workplace continue to apply when that workplace is a spare room, a kitchen table or a corner of the living room.
The course covers who counts as a homeworker, why it matters for both employer and employee, shared responsibility under health and safety law, how risk assessment applies to home-based work, setting up your workstation correctly, the importance of breaks and changing position, equipment checks and reporting problems, building good daily habits, mental health and isolation, maintaining boundaries between work and home life, and your employer's duty to assess and manage the risks even when you work remotely.
