About this course.

This course equips learners with the knowledge and practical skills to create a clear, professional and effective CV. A CV (curriculum vitae) is the key marketing document in a job application — it is often the first impression an employer forms of a candidate, and it largely determines whether they are invited to interview. In a competitive UK labour market, where a single advertised role can attract dozens or even hundreds of applications, a well-constructed CV is frequently the difference between progressing and being filtered out. The course covers what a CV is and how it is used, the modern job market and Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), how to prepare and write strong content, how to draft and format a professional CV, how to check and refine it with feedback, and how to present and keep it up to date.

It also examines worked examples of strong and weak content, the language of action verbs and achievements, the difference between duties and accomplishments, keyword optimisation, common mistakes that lead to rejection, covering letters and consistency with online professional profiles. Throughout, the emphasis is practical. You will see templates, structures, side-by-side comparisons and checklists you can apply directly to your own CV. By the end of the course you will be able to assess your existing CV critically, rewrite weak sections into compelling, evidence-based content, and tailor your application confidently to the specific roles you want.
