Every article in the Nexis CPD Knowledge Bank is written, checked and maintained by the Nexis CPD Editorial Team — the in-house content team at Nexis Academy Ltd. We publish under a team name rather than an individual byline because the work is genuinely collective: research, drafting, source-checking and updates are done in-house, and no article depends on a single author.
How we research and check what we publish
Our subject is UK compliance, so the facts have to be right and they have to be current. Our working rules are:
- Primary sources first. Legal duties are checked against the legislation itself on legislation.gov.uk, and against the regulator that enforces them — the HSE, the Food Standards Agency, the ICO, HMRC, or the relevant professional body. We do not repeat what other training providers say.
- Nation-specific claims are checked per nation. England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland often differ, and a UK-wide summary is frequently wrong for at least one of them.
- Figures are quoted with their source. Where a number is guidance rather than law — a recommended refresher interval, for example — we say so, because the difference matters when an inspector asks.
- We say when something is not required. A good deal of compliance marketing implies legal obligations that do not exist. Where the honest answer is “the law does not require that”, we publish it, even when it is not the answer that sells a course.
What we will not do
- We do not claim to be the cheapest or the best provider.
- We do not claim that a CPD course satisfies a regulator’s requirement. Whether any training meets your obligations depends on your role and your evidence, and that judgement is yours.
- We do not present a CPD certificate as a regulated qualification. Where a role needs an Ofqual-regulated qualification or practical assessment, we say so.
Keeping articles current
Compliance content goes out of date when the law changes, when a regulator revises its guidance, or when our own courses change. When we update an article, the revised date is shown on the page. Where a change corrects something we previously got wrong, we correct the article rather than quietly removing it.
Corrections
If you think something here is wrong, please tell us. Email support@nexiscpd.co.uk with the page and what you believe is inaccurate, and we will check it against the source and correct it if you are right.
Editorial independence and commercial interest
We sell online CPD courses, so we have a commercial interest in the subjects we write about, and our articles link to our own courses. We think that is fine so long as the information stands up on its own — which is why articles routinely tell readers when they do not need a course, when a cheaper or different route is appropriate, and when we do not offer what they actually need.
