The Care Certificate is the agreed set of standards that health and social care workers are expected to work to, especially in their early days in a role. Introduced to give new staff a consistent, high-quality induction, its 15 standards cover everything from your role and personal development to safeguarding, communication, dignity and infection control. This course introduces what the Care Certificate is, how it works and how it is assessed, and why it matters for safe, compassionate care.
It then walks through all 15 standards in groups: your role, development, duty of care, equality and person-centred care (Standards 1–5); communication, privacy and dignity, nutrition and mental health awareness (6–9); safeguarding adults and children (10–11); and basic life support, health and safety, handling information and infection prevention and control (12–15). It is an awareness-level introduction that supports understanding of the standards; the Care Certificate itself is achieved through workplace assessment of competence by an employer.
