Asbestos remains present in most buildings constructed or refurbished before 2000 — the building stock most often altered, refurbished or demolished.

The course covers what asbestos is, the diseases it causes, where it is found, the law (including CAR 2012 and the designer duties under CDM 2015), and the specific design-stage considerations that help avoid exposure. It is an awareness course only and does NOT qualify learners to survey, work with or remove asbestos.
